Computer Network Modeling and Analysis Using XML - Descriptions Technical Report
نویسندگان
چکیده
This article examines the supporting mathematical methods for modeling and simulation of computer networks. The authors discuss approaches to composition of analysis-able mathematical models for computer networks. The DFG (Dichromatic Functional Graph) is investigated as a relevant theoretical basis. Furthermore, the approaches to modeling of elements and transmission media on the basis of event-driven algorithms or queueing networks are considered. An organization of an object-oriented ESM (Equivalent element Substitution Model) is proposed. All concepts mentioned above are encapsulated via a retrieved data structure for computer networks – the informational model NDM (Network Design Model). They can be described via NDML (Network Design Markup Language), a special XML-based project language, also sketched in this paper. The discussed approaches are implemented in CANDY (Computer-Aided Network Design utilitY).

The topology descriptions used at Internet2 are provided in an XML format for use in the Dynamic Circuit Network suite. The topology descriptions developed by the University of Amsterdam is the Network Description Language. In August and September 2009 Jeroen van der Ham worked at Internet2 on the translation of topology descriptions. This report describes some of the findings in creating this ...
متن کاملA Typed Representation and Type Inference for MPEG - 7 Media Descriptions ∗
MPEG-7 is a promising standard for multimedia content description. Adequate means for the management of large amounts of MPEG-7 media descriptions are needed in the near future. Essentially, MPEG-7 media descriptions are XML documents following media description schemes defined with an extension of XML Schema named MPEG-7 DDL. However, XML database solutions available today are not well-suited ...
متن کاملStatically Typed Document Transformation: An Xtatic Experience
XTATIC is a lightweight extension of C⋕ with native support for statically typed XML processing. It features XML trees as built-in values, a refined type system based on regular types à la XDUCE, and regular patterns for investigating and manipulating XML. We describe our experiences using XTATIC in a real-world application: a program for transforming XMLSPEC, a format used for authoring W3C te...
متن کاملSimulating stochastic processes with OMNeT++
Modeling of correlated traffic processes is a challenge in simulation modeling but is necessary to obtain realistic simulation models of many computer or communication networks. We present a new simple module denoted as ArrivalProcess to be included as a traffic source in OMNeT++ simulation models. The new traffic source supports different stochastic process models which are defined using a XML...
متن کاملApply Uncertainty in Document-Oriented Database (MongoDB) Using F-XML
As moving to big data world where data is increasing in unstructured way with high velocity, there is a need of data-store to store this bundle amount of data. Traditionally, relational databases are used which are now not compatible to handle this large amount of data, so it is needed to move on to non-relational data-stores. In the current study, we have proposed an extension of the Mongo...
